So, you have noticed a few bare spots on your lawn, and consider covering it up but you have no idea what the cost would be for installing new turf. Not all brown spots need to be removed, and our team provides solutions like overseeding. This is a method used where we plant grass seeds directly into your current turf without removing any of the old turfs, it is fast effective, and much more cost-effective.

Why Consider Overseeding

When it comes to older properties, your lawn can start looking worn out and develop some bare spots, or you might have been prone to drought stress, insects, or disease, causing your lawn to lose color or thinned out in certain areas. By contacting us and requesting overseeding of your lawn you will save yourself the hassle of complete turf replacement, not to mention to cost savings involved. Our Methods will guarantee to improve the color and the thickness of your lawn, leaving you with a healthy-looking lawn and provide that extra durability that you need. We provide you with a detailed assessment as to what the problem was in the first place and provide solutions to correct soil compaction, poor soil conditions, drainage issues, or even insufficient sunlight.

Slit-seeding Method

There are two most common methods when overseeding, I know you did not think it is sprinkling new seeds on your lawn, the first of which is called the Slit-seeding method. This is done with a mechanical machine and is known to be one of the most effective methods. The slit-seeder cuts small slits into the grass with verticutter blades. The slit-seeder has blades that keep the slits open allowing the seeding to be dropped in for the germination of the seeds. The Slit-seeding method has been recorded to take less grass seed in the general overseeding process, so again saving costs on the actual purchase of too much seed. The more seed directly to the soil, the higher the germination rate, ultimately giving you a thicker lawn.

Broadcast Seeding

Broadcast seeding is also very effective, but as mentioned earlier, this method does require more grass seed purchases. We recommend proper core aeration be done to ensure there are ample punctures in the tuft to allow for optimal seed to soil contact. The area should be watered generously to ensure the seeds fall into the aeration punctures. Broadcast Seeding only works well with certain grass types, Grass-types best suited would be those that have a spreading growth pattern to ensure that your lawn does not end up looking spotted and uneven. We have to make mention that broadcast seedings' germination rate is not as high.

Overseeding Maintenance Tips

You should start seeing some growth within five to seven days after overseeding. It is vitally important to lightly water your lawn daily to ensure the germination period is completed. Do not fertilize your lawn for at least two to three weeks. Sit back and watch your lawn grow into a thick and healthy lawn.
